Woman’s Fair
WELCOME TO MINISTRY OF MERCY
WE HAVE TWO PROJECTS TO ACCOMPLISH FOR 2011
Our message this year 2011 is hope. So many of us put our hope in something abstract. I hope things will work out. Our hope is that we will get well, or have what we need. Yet, this type of hope seems so vague. In Nicaragua, the doctors hope for donations of medical supplies for their patients who lie in the beds waiting for treatment. The families hope in GOD for a healing. Everyone hopes things will get better. This hope seems so vague, so abstract. Is there a hope that is concrete? Is there a hope we can be sure of, a hope that stands the test of time? (Remember the Word unto thy servant upon which you have caused me to HOPE. Psalm 119:49).
In June of last year, we had the privilege of attending a conference on breast cancer help to low resource countries. There were posters and speakers from all over the world sharing how difficult it is to provide medical care to women for breast cancer. We met a number of women who are breast cancer survivors spending their lives wanting to share with women in their own country the importance of self breast exams, and screening for cervical cancer. It was wonderful to see the dedication in the physicians from all over the world having such a commitment to help the women in their country. Ministry of Mercy was invited to come to this conference, as we are working in Nicaragua to promote early detection of breast and cervical cancer in the country. We were asked to make a poster sharing our commitment and our work in Nicaragua. We are still in the early beginnings of our programs. We have spent last year gathering statistical data, prevalence, and the treatment options available to women in Nicaragua, so we can begin our programs.
We are excited about our Woman’s Fair August 24, 2011, in Cuidad Sandino, a suburb of Managua. We have been given a wonderful facility to accommodate 100 women for the day. The goal is to provide a holistic approach to breast and cervical cancer awareness. We are offering free medical assessment with a physician or nurse practitioner, free cervical testing, free HIV testing, free mammography and or ultra sound screening, education and demonstration of Self Breast Exam, entertainment, spiritual counseling, and lunch and snacks throughout the day.
What makes this a unique experience for women in Nicaragua is the total program is offered to give women a sense of having their needs met in relation to their physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions of their womanhood. The other unique feature is Ministry of Mercy will follow up on every women as we have a clinic established in Nicaragua for women and children.
